Emirates To Go Double Daily At London Stansted

Emirates today announced the launch of a second daily flight from Dubai (DXB) to London Stansted (STN) starting 1 July, 2019.

As with the first, the second daily flight to Stansted will also be operated by Emirates’ ‘game changing’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a three-class configuration with 6 private suites in First Class, 42 fully-flat beds in Business Class and 306 seats in Economy Class.

The aircraft offers customers an enriched travel experience across all cabins with newly designed seats and upgraded inflight entertainment systems. Customers will also enjoy new levels of comfort with fully enclosed private suites in First Class as well as refreshed Business and Economy Class cabins.

The announcement that Emirates is to double the capacity on its Dubai service is fantastic news for passengers and is a vote of confidence in both London Stansted Airport and the East of England. Since day one this route has been extremely popular with passengers flying direct to Dubai but also taking advantage of the 150 onward connections available from the hub and today’s announcement is further evidence of the rising demand that exists for more long-haul services from Stansted.

The second daily flight to Stansted also means increased tourism to the region, enabling further trade and economic growth. Popular inbound markets include Australia, UAE, India, South Africa, China, Malaysia and Hong Kong.

Emirates customers travelling from London Stansted will also have more access to destinations across the airline’s global network with convenient connection times. Popular destinations for UK travellers such as Brisbane, Melbourne, Male, Seychelles, Bali, Singapore, Colombo, Bangalore and Bangkok all fall within an approximate two and half hour connection time. Emirates’ partnership with flydubai unlocks even more destination options for outbound travel, with seamless connections to Zanzibar, Kathmandu, Faisalabad and Asmara, to name a few.

Travelling to Dubai for a weekend getaway or short work trip will also be more convenient with a morning or evening arrival option in Dubai and afternoon or evening arrival in Stansted. All Emirates First Class and Business Class customers travelling to and from Stansted enjoy complimentary chauffeur drive service within a 50-mile radius.

Beginning 1 July, the first daily flight from Dubai to London Stansted will operate as EK65, departing Dubai at 0900hrs and arriving in London Stansted at 1330hrs. The return flight, EK66 will depart London Stansted at 1500hrs and arrive in Dubai at 0105hrs the following day. The second daily flight from Dubai to London Stansted will operate as EK67, departing Dubai at 1415hrs and arriving in London Stansted at 1845hrs. The return flight, EK68 will depart London Stansted at 2110hrs and arrive in Dubai at 0710hrs the following day.

The additional Dubai-Stansted flight will also double the daily cargo capacity offered by Emirates SkyCargo to a total of 40 tonnes each way, facilitating trade and benefitting local businesses.

Emirates second daily flight to London Stansted brings Emirates’ total weekly flights to the UK to 140 – six services a day from Heathrow, three daily from London Gatwick and Manchester, two daily from Birmingham, Glasgow and London Stansted, and a daily service from Newcastle and Edinburgh. Emirates serves a global network of 158 destinations.

  • Boeing’s grounded 737 MAX airliner is likely to return to service in Europe during the first quarter of 2020, the head of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said on Monday.   • North American operators and now Air Canada has pulled the Boeing 737 MAX from its schedule until January and February 14, 2020 respectively. Air Canada cites the uncertainty surrounding regulatory approvals for the return to service of the plane as the reason. According to Air Canada, with 24 737 Max’s, this decision will provide some certainty and stability for the airline over the northern 2019/20 winter. Air Canada’s new 737 MAX time frame matches that of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association. Most North American airlines, including American Airlines, United Airlines , and Southwest Airlines are currently banking on a mid-January 2020 return to service. Tomi Kilgore, writing in marketwatch.com , quotes Air Canada’s Chief Commercial Officer, Lucie Guillemette, saying; “We are taking this prudent step as a result of the ongoing regulatory uncertainty about the timing of the aircraft returning to service. The extension will give us scheduling predictability through the implementation of the first phase of our new reservation system and the required stability as we prepare the second phase of the system roll-out, introducing it into the airport environment.” source: simply flying
  • The liquidators of Thomas Cook's British operations have kicked off a process aimed at raising tens of millions of pounds from an auction of dozens of airport take-off and landing slots. The auction, which includes about 15 pairs of summer slots at London's Gatwick Airport, has drawn interest from some of the UK's biggest carriers, including British Airways' parent company International Airlines Group. EasyJet, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Wizz Air are also understood to have lodged offers for limited numbers of slots, with Thomas Cook having operated out of Aberdeen and Manchester airports, in addition to Gatwick. In an aviation market constrained by capacity restrictions, take-off and landing slots can be among an airline's most valuable assets. Although Thomas Cook's slots were generally less valuable because of their departure and arrival times in the middle of the day, analysts expect them to generate a substantial sum for the company's liquidators to distribute to creditors.
